Q: I was browsing your site searching for a chef's knife as a wedding gift
for
a friend. The Calphalon "Katana" 8" Chef's knife (item # KN4008V)
seemed
just about what I was looking for as far as price/quality, shape, and
(guesstimated) balance. My only concern is the handle. I cannot tell either
from the graphic or the descriptive text whether there is any texturing on the
grip or if it is simply smooth steel (not a good thing on a knife I intend to
sharpen to the point it no longer distinguishes between meat and the
surrounding atmosphere).
Would you have any additional information?
A: The handles of the Calphalon
Katana knives are made of a composite material and there is no texture on
it. This company is mostly known for
cookware. Calphalon
Cookware has a great reputation and they are trying to enter the very competitive
cutelry market with the Katana line.
